CHAP Approved to Conduct Initial Licensure Surveys for Home Health Providers in California

WASHINGTON, Oct. 19, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Community Health Accreditation Partner (CHAP, Inc.) received approval by the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) to conduct initial home health licensure surveys.  This is an immediate benefit to organizations awaiting on-site licensure surveys prior to review for initial Medicare home health certification.

CDPH determined that the CHAP Standards of Excellence and review practices meet or exceed the California licensing regulations.  The determination allows organizations to undergo initial licensure review, followed by a two-part on-site review to award accreditation and meet the Medicare home health certification on-site survey requirement.

"We are extremely pleased to partner with the California Department of Public Health," said Barbara McCann, CHAP Interim President & CEO.  "With a consistent average of less than 30 days to site visit from readiness, CHAP is well-positioned to support organizations seeking initial home health licensure, as well as those proceeding to Medicare certification to better meet the needs of California patients and families seeking home health care."

CHAP currently accredits more than 200 existing California home health providers, and nationwide over 5,000 providers of home and community-based services, including home health, hospice, private duty, home medical equipment (HME), infusion therapy and pharmacy.

CHAP has served home and community-based organizations for over 50 years, and is a Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) approved accrediting organization for home health, hospice and durable medical equipment, prosthetics, orthotics and supplies (DMEPOS).
