Zearn's Elementary Math Curriculum Receives Top Rating by EdReports

NEW YORK, Oct. 18, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Zearn's elementary math curriculum?Zearn Math?received a top-rating by EdReports.org, an independent nonprofit that delivers evidence-based reviews of instructional materials. Zearn Math is one of only four elementary math curricula to receive this rating across all review gateways.

Each EdReports review represents hundreds of hours of work by expert educators with deep content knowledge and expertise in conducting reviews. The review process includes a three-gateway system in which a green rating signifies that the program meets expectations across a given set of criteria. After an extensive review, Zearn Math received a green rating across all three review gateways: Focus & Coherence, Rigor & Mathematical Practices, and Usability.

EdReports' review of Zearn Math coincides with a period of rapid growth for Zearn; as of the beginning of the 2017?2018 academic year, more than 200,000 teachers and administrators have adopted Zearn Math. Zearn CEO Shalinee Sharma remarked, "We began building Zearn Math five years ago to help all children love learning math. With the feedback of educators, Zearn Math has grown from a digital learning program to a comprehensive K?5 curriculum. We are so grateful to all those that partnered with us on this journey and honored that the Zearn Math curricular materials are now green-lighted by EdReports."

Zearn Math is designed so that each day, students work through engaging digital content at their own pace and learn targeted lessons with their teacher and peers. Zearn Math is built on the Universal Design for Learning (UDL) framework, a set of research-based guidelines for developing flexible learning environments that accommodate individual learning differences. Zearn Math aligns with UDL principles by providing students with multiple ways of acquiring knowledge, showing understanding, and engaging in learning. Students learn by demonstrating their math thinking with concrete and virtual manipulatives, explaining their reasoning aloud and on paper, and receiving personalized support throughout their learning.

Zearn Math enables individualized learning with coherent and aligned curricular materials: Independent Digital Lessons, Small Group Lessons, Whole Group Materials, and Assessments. To support districts and schools with implementation, Zearn Math offers Zearn for Schools products, including School Accounts, Professional Development, and Printed Materials.

Districts and schools can use EdReports' review of Zearn Math to inform their curriculum selection process. The detailed evidence provided by each review is designed to support effective adoption and implementation of materials.
