Thomas Parker, INFICON's North American automotive market sales manager, will discuss the importance of EV battery testing at the expo's Open Technology forum on Tuesday morning, Oct. 24 at the Suburban Collection Showplace in Novi, Michigan. INFICON also will be an exhibitor (Booth 11014) at the expo which runs through Oct. 26.

EV battery packs are a critical concern for auto makers and their suppliers, especially as the number of electric and hybrid-electric vehicles increases. Faulty battery cells can lead to fires and even explosions.

Parker's presentation will cover advanced leak-detection methods available for testing high-performance lithium-ion battery packs. Currently, there are many questions concerning quality-control standards for EV batteries, but the proper application of available test methodology can ensure overall battery performance, quality and safety.

With vast experience in the industrial vacuum science field, Parker has expertise in leak detection equipment for the automotive industry. He provides INFICON leak detection consultation and technical assistance to automakers and suppliers throughout Canada, Mexico and the United States.
