Livongo Donates $10,000 to Support Urgent Relief Efforts for People with Diabetes in Puerto Rico, Florida, and the Gulf Coast

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., Oct. 18, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Livongo, the leading consumer digital health company that empowers all people with chronic conditions to live better and healthier lives, announced a $10,000 donation to Insulin for Life USA (IFL USA) to provide urgent relief efforts to people with diabetes in Puerto Rico, Florida, and the Gulf Coast following the impact of Hurricanes Harvey, Irma, and Maria. This donation comes from Livongo.org, a 501(c)(3) specifically funded by Livongo for charitable initiatives.

Insulin for Life USA collects insulin and diabetes supplies from around the United States and redistributes them to people in urgent need. Diabetes is a chronic condition and must be managed daily. Many people with diabetes rely on insulin to manage their blood sugar and face a life-threatening situation when they no longer have access to insulin.

"Part of our mission is to respond in times of natural disaster. Our goal is short and simple ? to save lives," said Carol Atkinson, Director of IFL USA. "Livongo's support enables us to provide more aid to those in the path of Hurricanes Harvey, Irma, and Maria."

Formed in 2017, Livongo.org sources contributions solely through Livongo for the purpose of funding diabetes research, support, and advocacy organizations.

"Following the disasters in Puerto Rico, Florida, and the Gulf Coast, we decided the right thing to do was provide immediate support for people with diabetes," said Glen Tullman, Chief Executive Officer of Livongo. "This fits with our mission of keeping all people with chronic conditions, and especially those with diabetes, healthy. We chose Insulin For Life USA because they are best positioned to quickly provide insulin and diabetes supplies to people who need them in the short term."
