The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada Hosts Annual Light The Night Walk in Calgary

CALGARY, Oct. 18, 2017 /CNW/ - On Saturday, October 21, 2017 over 2,000 participants will gather at Eau Claire to take part in The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada's annual Light The Night Walk in Calgary. At twilight, participants will walk 5KM in solidarity along the bow river to bring help and hope to the more than 138,000 Canadians affected by a blood cancer.

Canadians like Calgary resident and Light The Night Honoured Hero, Jade, and her team of friends and family, will be among those in attendance.

"I want to share my story so I can pay it forward and do my part to help raise money to fund research for better treatments and cures for all blood cancers," explains Jade, an acute leukemia survivor. "I want to see a day when every blood cancer sufferer gets to feel the way I do today ? Humble, grateful, appreciative, and alive."

In 2016, over 35,000 Canadians participated in Light The Night Walks and raised $5.4 million to help fund world-class researchers working on the most promising projects in Canada to improve treatments or find cures for the various forms of blood cancers. In addition, monies raised make it possible to provide free information and support services to blood cancer patients and their caregivers.

This year's Light The Night Walk in Calgary will feature face-painting, fireworks, a celebration survivors, and food for all registered walkers donated by Westrow Foods.
