Fort Worth Plastic Surgeon Offering New Non-Surgical Body Procedures

FORT WORTH, Texas, Oct. 17, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Minimally invasive cosmetic treatments are all the rage. According to the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, over 11.6 million nonsurgical procedures were performed to slim, tighten, and refresh in 2016?an astonishing 650% increase over the last 20 years?and new technologies enter the market every year.

But new does not always mean better, says Fort Worth plastic surgeon Dr. Emily J. Kirby, who has been careful to vet new technologies for safety and efficacy before offering them to her patients at Kirby Plastic Surgery in Fort Worth. Two that measure up to Dr. Kirby's high standards? CoolSculpting fat reduction, and FemTouch vaginal rejuvenation. She recently added both procedures to her practice and says that so far, patients have been thrilled with the new options.

"A growing number of patients have expressed interest in minimally invasive alternatives to surgery to address effects of genetics, aging and childbearing on their bodies. My priority is to provide patients the results they want in a safe, predictable way," states Dr. Kirby, who is board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and recently voted as Chief of Plastic Surgery at Texas Health Resources Harris Methodist in Fort Worth.  "While not substitutes for plastic surgery, both CoolSculpting and FemTouch can safely achieve noticeable, lasting results without downtime for patients."

CoolSculpting: freezing technology to reduce stubborn fat pockets

CoolSculpting uses a proprietary mechanism called cryolipolysis, which delivers intense cold through the skin to reduce isolated bulges without incisions, needles, or anesthesia. This controlled freezing effectively destroys fat cells while leaving surrounding tissues unharmed. Results appear gradually as the body metabolizes affected fat cells, which do not grow back, helping patients achieve long-lasting fat reduction.

Originally FDA cleared to treat the belly and flanks, CoolSculpting has improved over the years, notes Dr. Kirby. The latest platform, CoolAdvantage, offered at Kirby Plastic Surgery, includes tools to treat fat pockets on the inner and outer thighs, chin, bra rolls, and arms, as well as the abdomen and flanks. CoolAdvantage also reduces treatment time from one hour to 35 minutes, is more comfortable for the patient, and can treat even very small areas of fat successfully.

To enhance treatment for her Fort Worth non-surgical fat reduction patients, Dr. Kirby has two CoolSculpting machines. Sometimes called "DualSculpting," this allows for two areas to be treated simultaneously, saving a patient time when treating both sides of the body (or two separate areas), and providing visible results sooner compared to multiple sessions.

FemTouch: Laser vaginal rejuvenation in Fort Worth

Vulvovaginal atrophy, or loss of tone in vaginal tissues, is a common effect of childbearing and aging that can lead to vaginal dryness, decreased sexual function, stress urinary incontinence, recurrent urinary tract infections, and discomfort for women. FemTouch is a CO2 laser technology that promotes collagen production and tissue rebuilding to improve tone and restore natural lubrication. The in-office procedure takes minutes to perform and requires only a few days of downtime.

Dr. Kirby states that FemTouch has been a "game-changer" for both older and younger patients, many of whom had dealt with discomfort for years. "As women, we're often told that vaginal laxity, dryness, and diminished sexual pleasure are issues we just have to put up with as we age. With FemTouch, patients now have a safe, effective non-surgical option to achieve noticeable improvements. I am excited to offer FemTouch, and so far patients are thrilled with their results."
