Balkan Business Network Opens For Business

ORLANDO, Fla., Oct. 17, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, Balkan Business Network, Inc., a Central Florida based networking group for people of Serbian, Croatian, and Bosnian origin or ancestry, formally incorporated with the State of Florida. The Balkan Business Network was envisioned by business owners from the former-Yugoslavia, as a way to bring together small business within the Balkan community.

"We are thrilled to formally incorporate our networking group," said Daniel Rudez, BBN's co-founder and president. "Central Florida needed a space for business owners within this community to rally around each other. As members of this community have been divided along ethnic and religious lines, I wanted to give them an opportunity to come together over the common ground of their entrepreneurial spirit."

Balkan Business Network caters specifically to the Balkan community, which includes those from former Yugoslavia, many of whom were admitted to the U.S. as refugees during the Balkan War of the 1990s. Prior to the war, Yugoslavians were united by their common cultural traditions and shared history. Unfortunately the war created new ethnic divisions among the ethnicities, and those unwilling to choose a side were violently persecuted.

According to a 1999 report, the U.S. accepted 63,000 refugees of the Balkan War from the former Yugoslavia. A 2008 report estimated that 15,000 of these Balkan refugees live within the State of Florida.
