AirTies Launches "Remote Manager": Next-Gen In-Home Wi-Fi Management System for Service Providers

SUNNYVALE, Calif. and ISTANBUL, Oct. 17, 2017 /PRNewswire/ --One of the most critical issues facing service providers today is their lack of visibility and control over their subscribers' in-home Wi-Fi experience. Today, AirTies Wireless Networks, a leading international provider of premium in-home wireless systems and set-top box (STB) solutions, unveiled AirTies Remote Manager, a powerful new in-home Wi-Fi performance management system for service providers. The new cloud-based system will be showcased for the first time at the SCTE Cable-Tec Expo in Denver and at Broadband World Forum in Berlin this month.

As part of AirTies' Managed Wi-Fi Solution, the new cloud-based system gives service providers an array of key insights and new levels of control over in-home Wi-Fi provisioning and performance to support today's super-connected homes. The system builds upon AirTies Remote View system introduced last year, which shows performance data, and is now one component of AirTies Remote Manager. The re-architected system adds the ability to send remote commands to the home network, and uses secure APIs that feed data to a suite of specialized applications for customer care, field teams, network operations, and consumers. The highly-scalable and versatile system will support flexible deployment and operational options for varying customer needs such as cloud (e.g. Amazon Web Services) or self-hosting models.

"With today's super-connected homes, it is imperative that service providers have real-time and historical insights about subscribers Wi-Fi home performance, and the ability to act remotely ? both proactively and reactively ? to ensure a quality experience," said Philippe Alcaras, CEO of AirTies Wireless Networks.  "AirTies Remote Manager is designed to support their needs today and into the future. We're confident it will enable service providers to remotely manage Wi-Fi, diagnose and solve issues, and better serve their customers than they could ever do previously."

Key Features and Capabilities

The system consists of multiple features and software applications to optimize and troubleshoot subscribers' home Wi-Fi networks. Some of these include:

Device Control and Provisioning:  Through a secure transport path and APIs, service providers gain remote access and control over subscribers' home devices running AirTies Mesh Software, such as extenders, gateways, or set-top boxes. Service providers can query or setup an AP/extender's name (ie. "Living Room") and wireless settings; enable or disable Wi-Fi; setup parental controls; provision guests; and more. Service providers can also remotely assist with installation for both Wi-Fi provisioning and applications, such as end-user authentication though a web portal, and more.

Remote View: View live and historical data on active Wi-Fi connections, traffic and throughput. This includes connection rates of wireless APs and home devices (i.e. laptops, smart home devices, phones, tablets, game consoles, etc.); the speed capability of those devices; the distribution of 802.11g, 802.11n or 802.11ac clients; band connection durations of all devices; 5 GHz vs. 2.4 GHz connection rates and steering optimization occurrences; air-time consumption; and more. The system provides key performance data on both individual homes and aggregate data across numerous households.

External Cloud Applications:  Service providers can now easily use and integrate Remote Manager data to power various applications or dashboards across the organization. These include different UIs and data sets for care/CRM, engineering/operations, systems administrators, consumer facing portals, and more.

Apps: With the AirTies App, service providers can also use, or white-label, an easy-to-use network management and installation smartphone app designed for their subscribers. Alternatively, service providers can use the app SDK (software development kit) to integrate into their own customized smartphone App. For installers and technicians, AirTies App Pro provides a more data-rich tablet app for advanced diagnostics and support. The Apps can also control the home network from outside of the home itself.

Real-Time Events and Notifications: Selected real-time events, alarms or changes (e.g. topology changes, factory resets, etc.) can now be pushed to the cloud for analysis or response by the service provider. These notifications can be pushed to the consumer App for real-time event management.

Proactive Home Wi-Fi Optimization: The home Wi-Fi experience is continuously improved by analyzing system performance data and proactively applying optimized parameters to Wi-Fi Mesh extenders.

Since all data is provided by the AirTies Mesh System, there is no need to download any client-side software on subscribers' personal devices. AirTies also does not collect, store or process any sensitive end-user data. The system provides data and analysis of in-home network connections, but does not monitor things such as browser-level data about site visits.

AirTies also noted that its previous Remote View solution is currently in use or trials by more than 50 operators across North America, Europe and Asia, and the company is in talks with service providers about upgrading to Remote Manager.

At the upcoming SCTE Cable-Tec Expo in Denver from October 17-20, AirTies will be located at booth #957. At the Broadband World Forum in Berlin from October 24-26, AirTies will host a private lunch for service providers and technology partners on Wednesday, October 25th from 12pm-1:30pm in meeting room MR12. More information about AirTies is available at www.AirTies.com.
