The American College Congratulates David Blanchett, Adjunct Professor, For Earning AFS 'Best Paper' Award

BRYN MAWR, Pa., Oct. 16, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The American College of Financial Services, the nation's only non-profit, accredited college devoted to financial services, announced today that the Academy of Financial Services (AFS) has awarded Adjunct Professor David Blanchett with 'Best Paper' in investments for his research article, 'The Value of a Gamma-Efficient Portfolio.' Blanchett is part of the development and instruction behind the College's upcoming Wealth Management Certified Professional (WMCP) designation, which helps advisors transform modern investment theory into applied knowledge that brings a new level of value to client relationships.

"The College is proud of David for receiving this prestigious award from the AFS," said Michael Finke, Dean and Chief Academic Officer at the American College. "David's dedication to wealth management theory and practice is reflected both here and through our upcoming WMCP designation. We are thrilled to have him as part of the team that will deliver to financial advisors the specialized knowledge needed to build a long-term wealth management plan."

Aligning with the curriculum of the WMCP, Blanchett's award-winning paper covers the different considerations for building an efficient portfolio and quantifies the potential benefit of this type of financial advice. His paper revisits gamma, a metric designed to quantify the value of more intelligent financial planning decisions.

The AFS's 'Best Paper' award recognizes authors from a variety of disciplines that relate to financial planning. The award showcases vibrant, cutting-edge research on financial planning and related disciplines from the U.S. and around the world, including estate planning, insurance, tax accounting aspects of financial planning, investments, and retirement planning.
