Their new Easy Clean Bath Squirters were conceived of after designers brought in bath toys from home and noticed some dark spots. After cutting them open, they found gunk ? and in some cases, mold. "After the viral news story of the Sophie the Giraffe mold, we saw an opportunity to make the product more fun but also more safe," says Lee. "Parenting is hard enough without having to worry about the safety of the toys you give your children." After plenty of testing and prototyping, they designed a bath squirter with a removable top ? making them easy for parents to drain, clean and dry. Not only safe, they're also super fun: each BPA-free figurine comes with a pool floaty that would fit in at any city pool!
Their new vehicle playsets draw direct inspiration from Sago Mini's wildly popular apps. After asking fans of the Road Trip app to share their favourite vehicles, the designers brought the veggie dog car, fire truck and ice cream truck to life. Bringing a whimsical twist to the classic toy, all vehicles were designed to work with favourites from last year's line: whether taking a trip on the modular puzzle mat, or turning the portable playsets into a drive through.
Building on the buzz of last year's bespoke limited edition Tuck Me In Quilt, the new quilts teach bedtime routines at night while encouraging creative play during the day. Featuring minimal artwork inspired by the Trucks & Diggers and Fairy Tales apps, favourite stuffies can be tucked into the playful pockets when it's time to catch some shut-eye ? keeping them close all night long.
Sago Mini's popularity amongst preschoolers isn't an accident: all their toys and apps are playtested by little ones. "Sometimes we think we have a really awesome idea, but when we put that in the hands of a 3-year-old, well, it could really flop," says Phil So, toy designer. "Other times, they interact and engage with our toys in very unexpected ways ? ways we couldn't even hypothesize. That's incredibly helpful and surprising at the same time."
