Toronto Hydro's Chief Executive Officer receives Responsible CEO of the Year Award


Anthony Haines is the first Canadian to be recognized by Corporate Responsibility Magazine

TORONTO, Oct. 13, 2017 /CNW/ - Last night, Toronto Hydro's President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Anthony Haines was recognized as a Responsible CEO of the Year by Corporate Responsibility (CR) Magazine at a ceremony in Washington, D.C. This marks the first time a Canadian CEO has been given this prestigious award.  

The award is presented by the CR Board, the leading voice in the corporate responsibility profession and the publisher of the 100 Best Corporate Citizen's List, which has been ranked one of US's three most important business rankings according to PR Week.

In addition to transforming Toronto Hydro's culture to focus on corporate social responsibility, Anthony was recognized for his work with Sunnybrook's Ross Tilley Burn Centre, as Toronto Hydro has raised more than $2.6 million for the centre since 2014. Anthony also contributed to Ontario's Long-Term Energy Plan through development of the "Conservation First" framework and under his leadership. Toronto Hydro was designated a Sustainable Electricity Companytm by the Canadian Electricity Association (CEA).

This award is presented to high-profile CEOs who visibly exceed standards in the areas of employee relations, environmental impact and sustainability, human rights, philanthropy and corporate responsibility practices.

Past winners include William Cho, president and CEO, LG, Dan Hesse former CEO, Sprint and Jim Murren, chairman and CEO, MGM Resorts International.
