CIBC Mellon Marks Together in Action Week with Volunteer Blitz

Company proud to support employees making a difference for local charities

TORONTO, Oct. 11, 2017 /CNW/ - CIBC Mellon is hosting its first-ever Together in Action volunteer week at its headquarters from October 11-13, 2017.  With its focus on community volunteering, the company is holding several employee events to support local charities such as the Waterfront Neighbourhood Centre, Ernestine's Women's Shelter, and the Toronto Kiwanis Boys & Girls Club. CIBC Mellon employees and its leadership team will be participating by packing 2,400 snack packs and 1,000 hygiene kits on-site at the company's Toronto office to support these charities. CIBC Mellon's offices from across the country have been participating in community volunteering events throughout the year.

The event is one of more than 100 CIBC Mellon volunteering activities taking place in 2017 across an annual Departmental Volunteering Challenge. The program sees business units across the company take part in a friendly competition to achieve the highest volunteerism participation rate. CIBC Mellon's "Together in Action" volunteering program provides paid time off during regular working hours for employees to volunteer in teams with registered charities. In addition, CIBC Mellon also makes financial contributions to charities in recognition of employees' volunteer contributions both during and outside working hours.

"We believe in doing well by doing right and we are passionate and invested in giving back and making a positive difference in our communities," said Muna Al-Joulani, Vice President, HR Relationship Management and Employee Experience, Human Resources, CIBC Mellon, and Chair of the company's Corporate Social Responsibility Steering Committee. "We provide financial, in-kind and volunteer support to the causes that matter most to our employees, and we empower our team to make meaningful contributions in communities where we live and work."

"I value CIBC Mellon's support and commitment to volunteering," said Fatima Abrar, Financial Reporting Analyst, CIBC Mellon. "The encouragement that we receive to get out and volunteer on teams during company time is quite incredible. I find our company volunteering activities are a very rewarding experience, and employees here feel empowered and motivated to help out in our communities."
