Barceló Maya Grand Resort Announces 'Day of the Dead' Celebration

RIO DE JANEIRO, October 11, 2017 /PRNewswire/ --

On the 1st and 2nd of November, Barceló Maya Grand Resort will be holding a special evening of celebrations for the  Mexican festival of the 'Day of the Dead'. Considered to be one of the most relevant cultural representations of Mexican  heritage, in 2003, UNESCO granted the celebration the title of 'Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity'.

Since pre-Columbian times, Mexico has held one of the most singular unique  celebrations in the world, a day where everyone takes to the streets to honour the dead. But far from being a day of morbidity and sorrow, the 'Day of the Dead' is instead, a joyful carnival.

Barceló Maya Grand Resort will be embracing a new and renovated version of the festival. Those staying in the Caribbean resort will have the opportunity to participate in the festivities with food and alcohol, wearing cempasuchil flowers and enjoying gastronomic offerings from Mexico such as 'Death bread' baked in the emblematic shape of the skull.

Besides these novelties, Barceló Maya Grand Resort will maintain its usual offers in the 22 restaurants available along the five hotels of the resort, that provide a marvellous gourmet selection for all customers.

Barceló Maya Grand Resort will be hosting guests with the bright colors of the Mexican skulls, the delicious 'Bread of Death' and the most typical Mexican liqueurs such as tequila and mezcal - but only for those who are brave enough to attend.
