The Embassy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Announces Fatimah Baeshen as Official Spokesperson


WASHINGTON, Oct. 11, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Embassy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in Washington, DC is officially announcing Fatimah Salem A. Baeshen as the embassy's spokesperson. Prior to her appointment, Baeshen held positions with Aon, the Islamic Development Bank, the World Bank, Emirates Foundation for Youth Development, the Saudi Ministry of Labor, and the Ministry of Economy and Planning.

His Royal Highness Prince Khalid bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the United States, said, "Fatimah reflects the dynamic, young leadership that is emerging in Saudi Arabia. Not only does Fatimah personify the growing diversity in Saudi leadership, she is imminently qualified for this role having served in the public and private sectors, and having worked in the U.S. and in the Kingdom. Baeshen has more than 15 years of experience working at the intersection of economic reform, human rights, private sector development and civic engagement having advised the private, public and NGO sectors.

Baeshen obtained her Bachelor of Arts in Sociology at The University of Massachusetts, Amherst and her Master of Arts at the University of Chicago's Center for Middle Eastern Studies, where she wrote her thesis on Islamic Finance Regulation in Secular Markets.

Fatimah Salem A. Baeshen was appointed spokesperson for the Embassy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the United States in September 2017.

A prominent Saudi socioeconomic strategist, Baeshen has more than 15 years of experience working at the intersection of economic reform, human rights, private sector development and civic engagement having advised the private, public and NGO sectors.

Prior to her appointment as Embassy spokesperson, she held positions at Aon, the Islamic Development Bank, the World Bank, Emirates Foundation for Youth Development, and the Saudi Ministry of Labor and the Ministry of Economy and Planning. Most recently, she served as a director at the Arabia Foundation, a Washington-based think tank.

Baeshen is a Saudi national and has spent a significant amount of time in the United States. She obtained her Bachelor of Arts in Sociology at The University of Massachusetts, Amherst and her Master of Arts at the University of Chicago's Center for Middle Eastern Studies, where she wrote her thesis on Islamic Finance Regulation in Secular Markets.
