Nation's Top CTE, Concussion Experts to Convene at Boston Precision Health Summit

BOSTON and CAMBRIDGE, Mass., Oct. 11, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Biotech entrepreneur Kevin Hrusovsky will moderate an expert keynote panel discussion on brain health, including a deep dive into CTE and Concussions on Tuesday, October 24th, day one of Powering Precision Health 2017.

"With all the headlines surrounding CTE and concussions, this panel discussion provides the perfect forum for tackling these issues with evidence-based scientific research," said Hrusovsky. "Over the past 18 months, scientific discoveries have advanced the ability to measure several key digital biomarkers for detecting concussions in blood, including their severity and potential accumulated effect on brain health. In addition, promising early data points us to the possibility of a non-invasive blood test to diagnose CTE in the living.  At the summit, we will explore these advances and potential linkages between concussions and CTE, early onset Alzheimer's, ALS, Parkinson's, and other devastating neurodegenerative diseases."

"Our research efforts, both to confirm the long-term effects of repetitive brain trauma and to develop precision methods for detecting CTE in the living, are greatly supported by this precision health summit," said Dr. Robert Stern, Boston University School of Medicine Professor of Neurology, Neurosurgery, and Anatomy & Neurobiology; Director, BU Alzheimer's Disease Center Clinical Core; Director of Clinical Research, BU CTE Center. "The summit not only provides researchers a platform from which to share and collaborate, it helps raise awareness for the vital importance of biomarker research in promoting healthy living and combatting illness and disease."
