CFA Society Toronto Examines The Future State of Finance


TORONTO, Oct. 11, 2017 /CNW/ - CFA Society Toronto's flagship event is back! This year's line-up will include two keynote presentations followed by a fireside chat from global thought leaders who will be diving into the industry's hottest topics and defining the trends which are reshaping the future state of the industry. The evening will also provide a great opportunity to entertain clients and network with other members of the profession.

Dianne Buckner brings a natural curiosity along with years of experience to her position with CBC News. For 10 years, she hosted the popular current affairs program Venture, eventually becoming the show's executive producer, as well. From there, Buckner went on to co-create Fortune Hunters, a magazine show on CBC Newsworld that focused on entrepreneurship. And since 2006, she has hosted CBC's popular reality show Dragons' Den.

Jason Furman is currently a Professor of Practice at the Harvard Kennedy School. As President Barack Obama's chief economist, Jason Furman helped guide the United States through a tumultuous period of recession, unemployment, and instability. He offers an incisive insider's exploration of the geo-economic outlook, business trends, and the future of globalism. Before joining the Obama administration, Mr. Furman worked in public policy at the Council of Economic Advisers, National Economic Council, and at the World Bank.  He was also a senior fellow at the Brookings Institution and the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities.

Bob Prince

At Bridgewater, Mr. Prince manages the execution of the company's investment process along with Ray Dalio and Greg Jensen. He joined Bridgewater as a Partner in 1986, and has served on Bridgewater's Management Committee since its inception. Additionally, Mr. Prince manages research and development of the firm's proprietary investment management models and helps devise client strategies.

Donald A. Guloien

Donald Guloien is the immediate past President and former Chief Executive Officer of Manulife. A 36-year company veteran, Mr. Guloien held a variety of leadership roles in insurance and investments operations, global acquisitions and business development. Mr. Guloien is Vice Chairman of the Mayor of Shanghai's International Business Leaders' Advisory Council, Chair of the Governance and Nominating Committee at The Hospital for Sick Children, a Governor of Branksome Hall, former Director of the Geneva Association, former member of the Board of Busienss Council of Canada, Immediate Past Chair of the Canadian Life and Health Insurance Association, and former Member of the Campaign Cabinet for the United Way and the University of Toronto. He is also a member of the Ticker Club, and the World Presidents' Organization. Mr. Guloien was ranked among the Highest Rated CEOs in Canada in Glassdoor.com's 2015, 2016 and 2017 Employee's Chocie Awards, based on assessment by current and past employees. Mr. Guloien holds a B.Comm from the University of Toronto.
