Doors Open at Madison Reed Color Bar in New York City

NEW YORK, Oct. 9, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Located in the middle of one of New York City's busiest neighborhoods, the Madison Reed Color Bar is back by popular demand. The Color Bar's first incarnation ? a temporary pop-up store ? was so successful, Madison Reed decided to put down permanent roots at 11 W. 18th Street in the Flatiron District. With messages of empowerment emblazoned on the walls and eight salon chairs waiting for clients, Manhattan's Madison Reed Color Bar is officially back in business.

In June, Madison Reed opened a San Francisco Color Bar adjacent to its company headquarters in the Mission District. Now, with two stores up-and-running, the company's focus will turn to opening more stores nationwide in an aggressive expansion strategy: 20 to 25 new Color Bars in urban areas or surrounding suburbs over the next 18 to 24 months.

"Color Bars are our next frontier," said Amy Errett, Madison Reed CEO and co-founder. "We are already disrupting the at-home hair color industry, and we will keep innovating for those women who want to color at home. But there will always be women who want to have someone else do it. Now is the time for us to turn our attention to disrupting the salon channel, to operationally making it faster, more affordable and convenient. There is no reason in the world that a salon appointment should be three hours and $300. At Madison Reed Color Bars, that will not be what happens."

The Color Bar concept is a first-ever: the "un"-salon designed to deliver stunning color (and gray coverage) for time-pressed women. For only $60, clients can get permanent color applied to their roots, which is less than half the cost of a traditional salon. Or for just $35 and 35 minutes, clients can have an express root touch-up thanks to the new Root Reboottm, a demi-permanent color service that lasts two weeks.
