MELVILLE, N.Y., Oct. 5, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Henry Schein (Nasdaq: HSIC) announced today that it has extended the application deadline for its third annual Henry Schein Cares Medal program by one week to midnight Pacific time on October 12, 2017 to accommodate organizations that have been impacted by the recent hurricanes, or are involved in recovery efforts for all global natural disasters. The program honors organizations from the fields of oral health, animal health, and medicine that demonstrate excellence in expanding access to care for the underserved.

A panel of expert judges from the medical, philanthropy, social entrepreneurship, and business sectors will select three finalists among applicants from the fields of oral health, animal health, and medicine. In each category, a gold, silver, and bronze medalist will be chosen. Each medalist will receive a cash award, in the following amounts: $15,000 for gold, $10,000 for silver, and $5,000 for bronze, through the support of the Henry Schein Cares Foundation, Inc. In addition to the cash awards, each finalist will receive $10,000 worth of product from Henry Schein, Inc.

"Extending the application deadline ensures that organizations still recovering from the recent hurricanes or contributing to rebuilding efforts globally are able to participate in the Henry Schein Cares Medal program," said Jennifer Kim Field, Vice President, Corporate Social Responsibility for Henry Schein, and Executive Director, Henry Schein Cares Foundation. "We stand ready to help you fill out and file your application should you require any assistance."
