Dryer Vent Wizard Promotes Dryer Fire Education throughout National Fire Prevention Month

FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich., Oct. 5, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- In an effort to raise awareness regarding the dangers of dryer fires, Dryer Vent Wizard, North America's leading dryer maintenance and repair franchise, is honoring National Fire Prevention Month this October by raising funds for the Children's Burn Foundation, a non-profit organization aiding children who have suffered from severe burns or trauma as a result of fire. This marks the sixth consecutive year Dryer Vent Wizard will fundraise on behalf of the Children's Burn Foundation for National Fire Prevention Month.

Throughout the month of October, Dryer Vent Wizard will raise funds to benefit the Children's Burn Foundation through its franchise system, corporate office and the company website, www.dryerventwizard.com. Dryer Vent Wizard's corporate office will host a can and bottle drive and a Give a Dollar Program to collect donations from staff members and individual donors. Additionally, Dryer Vent Wizard franchisees nationwide will pledge a specific dollar donation per job completed in October or donate a flat amount.

To honor fire departments with exceptional fire prevention programs and services, Dryer Vent Wizard will give $500 grants at the conclusion of the fundraiser. Franchisees can nominate their local fire department throughout the month for consideration. Since 2015, Dryer Vent Wizard has awarded $8,500 worth of grants to 17 fire departments across the United States and Canada.

"We are thrilled to partner with the Children's Burn Foundation for a sixth year in pursuit of our common goal of preventing fires in homes across the United States," said Terry Reuer, CEO of Dryer Vent Wizard. "With 92 percent of appliance fires taking place in the dryer, our goal this month is to raise awareness for dryer fires to make homes safer. By simply understanding the hazards and warning signs as well as how a dryer fire can start, we can truly help homeowners live safely and avoid destruction of their homes."

This year's fundraiser kicked off during the spring when Dryer Vent Wizard participated in a Tough Mudder race on June 3 in Michigan. Members of Dryer Vent Wizard who participated in the series of 10-12 mile obstacle mud-run events included Terry Reuer, CEO of Dryer Vent Wizard, Jason Kapica, Vice President of Dryer Vent Wizard as well as Mike Donnelly, legal administrator, and other friends and family members.

Dryer Vent Wizard aims to raise $25,000 this year for the Children's Burn Foundation, which provides reconstructive treatment, counseling, emergency assistance, prevention and education programs and more. Since 2012, Dryer Vent Wizard has partnered with the Children's Burn Foundation to help spread awareness for the dangers of fires, and has collectively donated nearly $64,000 to the organization.

"We are beyond grateful for the hard work Dryer Vent Wizard's system puts in each October for the Children's Burn Foundation," said Dawn Umeoto, Director of Development and Communications for the Children's Burn Foundation. "The outstanding effort by the entire franchise system really shines through, and we are humbled by Dryer Vent Wizard's generosity and commitment."
