Media Advisory - Sophie Grégoire Trudeau joins young women for Plan International Canada roundtable on bridging the "dream gap"

Plan International Canada Global Ambassador joins group of passionate young leaders to discuss
barriers girls still face in achieving their dreams.

OTTAWA, Oct. 3, 2017 /CNW/ - On Wednesday, October 4, 2017, media are invited to join Plan International Canada Global Ambassador Sophie Grégoire Trudeau, Plan International Canada President and CEO, Caroline Riseboro, and a diverse group of young women from across Canada for a critical discussion on gender inequality, barriers girls face in pursuit of their dreams, and ways to overcome them.

In the lead up to International Day of the Girl on Oct. 11, Plan International Canada is facilitating this conversation to shine a light on the "dream gap" ? a combination of barriers such as harmful gender stereotypes, negative perceptions, and discrimination that limits girls from accessing opportunities to fulfill their potential and achieve their dreams.

The roundtable will feature activities focused on raising girls' voices to challenge barriers and bridge the dream gap, further empowering them as advocates for gender equality in their communities and around the world.

This event is part of Plan International Canada's #GirlsBelongHere initiative, which supports a diverse group of ambitious, passionate young women from across Canada to step into their dream jobs for a day to illustrate a girl's right to be seen and heard in places where females are traditionally underrepresented.

Roundtable participants will include girls who have gone through their #GirlsBelongHere experience or will be stepping into high profile political and business roles in the upcoming week.
