American Urogynecologic Society Hosts Annual PFD Week To Showcase Latest Innovative Research In Female Pelvic Medicine And Reconstructive Surgery

PROVIDENCE, R.I., Oct. 3, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, the American Urogynecologic Society (AUGS) kicks off the 38th Annual Scientific Meeting, Pelvic Floor Disorder (PFD) Week in Providence, Rhode Island. PFD Week convenes leading physicians, nurses, physical therapists, students, researchers, educators, and other healthcare professionals from around the world who will present and discuss the latest in female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery.

PFD Week continues to attract world renowned experts and includes more than 1,100 attendees, 18 workshops chaired by experts in the field, 25 roundtable discussions, and more than 200 oral, oral poster, poster, and video presentations. This year's meeting focuses on the latest treatment techniques and developments in both surgical and non-surgical settings with interactive learning formats and numerous opportunities for peer networking.

"Our female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery field continues to grow and advance at a rapid pace and PFD Week is the perfect platform to exchange new ideas, and discuss the latest research and technology that will help us continue to advance patient care," said Halina Zyczynski, MD, president of AUGS. "It is our hope that this year's robust program and educational sessions will provide practical insights and best practices with real-world patient and clinician benefits that can be implemented immediately."

To further spotlight research, the PFD Week Program Committee selects outstanding abstracts to recognize at the 2017 meeting. The outstanding abstract winners are selected based on groundbreaking, unique results and are acknowledged in the session and receive a certificate. The selected abstracts will also be published in the special October edition of Female Pelvic Medicine & Reconstructive Surgery (FPMRS), the official journal of AUGS.
