EDENS' CEO Presented With Prestigious 2017 "Women Who Mean Business" Award

McLean embodies the EDENS mission in her commitment and stewardship of building and supporting the community. In her 27 years with EDENS, Jodie has been responsible for development, redevelopment, acquisition, and disposition of more than $12 billion in retail assets. Establishing herself as an invaluable leader to one of the nation's leading developers of retail real estate, McLean was appointed CEO in 2015.

"I am honored to be included with this group of women leaders in our nation's capital," said Jodie W. McLean.

Since assuming her role as CEO, Jodie has used her platform to further establish EDENS as a trailblazer in both retail and community development. With a portfolio that includes more than a dozen centers in the Washington DC Metro area, including D.C.'s CityVista and Union Market, 530 First in Old Town Alexandria and Mosaic District in Fairfax County, McLean has led in the creation of intentionally designed and curated retail centers that foster community engagement and prosperity for all stakeholders.

McLean understands the true value that physical stores bring to any community and business: Retail transactions can happen anywhere, at any time. EDENS centers are a place for people to come together in a more high-touch than high-tech world. They offer people an opportunity to build relationships, have meaningful experiences and gain intellect and content.

As a businesswoman, McLean has used her platform to not only create opportunity for her employees and communities where EDENS is invested, but has been unselfish in giving to other young female entrepreneurs, mentoring young businesses to grow and scale.

As an industry leader and advocate for community enrichment, McLean serves as a trustee of both the International Council of Shopping Centers and the Urban Land Institute. Partnering with the James Beard Foundation (JBF), McLean initiated the Women's Entrepreneurial Leadership (WEL) Program. McLean is a founding board member of Halcyon, a D.C. based non-profit that incubates early-stage social entrepreneurs creating scalable ventures.
