A Tail of Two Cities: Vancouver and Edmonton have the Country's Most Pampered Pets
Vancouver jumps seven spots from last year to fur-st place, while Edmonton does the im-paws-ible, rising nine spots to take second place
SEATTLE, Oct. 2, 2017 /CNW/ - Today, Amazon.ca released the fifth annual list of the top cities in Canada with the most pampered pets. This list was compiled by comparing per capita sales data for pet items purchased on Amazon.ca from August 2016 to August 2017 in cities with more than 100,000 residents. Sales data was collected from products for dogs, cats, birds, fish, reptiles and small animals.

Taking a closer look, the Amazon.ca pet data reveals:
Vancouver Mutt-ropolitan: The city of Vancouver was top dog in the pooches' category, purchasing the most accessories, grooming products, toys and treats. Vancouver ranked first in the small animals category as well, which includes products for everything from guinea pigs to hamsters.
Big City, Small Pets: Despite placing 15th on the top 20 list, Canada's largest city, Toronto, ranked the highest in purchasing products for reptiles and birds. This includes heat lamps, toys, treats and accessories for the littlest members of the pet chain.
New Paws on the Block: Not only did Burnaby make its return to the top 20 this year after falling out last year, but residents ranked the highest in purchases for cat products. From beds to grooming to litter, they were all about the cattitude this year!
Life in an Aquarium: When it came to spoiling fish and aquatic animals, Winnipeg placed first, with popular purchases including filters, heaters, lights, décor and food. Trailing Winnipeg was Vancouver, Edmonton and Mississauga.
Ontario's Paw Print: The province of Ontario had the biggest footprint on this year's list, with nine cities in the top 20. British Columbia was the second province with the most cities on the list, with four (Vancouver, Burnaby, Richmond, Surrey).
