Houston-Based Noventis Takes "Day Off" to Support Ongoing Hurricane Harvey Relief Efforts

HOUSTON, Sept. 27, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Noventis, Inc., (Noventis) today announced that it will be spending the day outside the office Thursday to support the ongoing efforts of Hurricane Harvey relief in Houston. As part of its annual "Away Day" program, the Houston-based electronic payment processor and its employees dedicate time and financial support to worthwhile causes. This year, the company turned its focus to a local and pressing need.

Although Noventis immediately established a relief fund to help employees and their families who were affected by the storm, the company wanted to do more for the city of Houston. Thus, the final decision for "Away Day" was to focus its efforts on restoring Buffalo Bayou Park, which was severely damaged by floodwaters. The company's Portland office will also be supporting Harvey relief efforts by working through Soldier's Angels, to create hurricane relief kits with vital supplies for Houston area veterans affected by the storm.

"Because there are so many worthy organizations in need of help, it was difficult to decide with whom to partner on our annual day of charity efforts," said Steve Taylor, CEO of Noventis. "The final decision to help restore Buffalo Bayou Park was due to the fact that this park is something everyone in Houston has in common.  Some of the most impressive views of our city skyline can be seen here and it serves as a major artery by connecting us from far west to east Houston."

The Buffalo Bayou serves as a flood channel for surrounding bayous and reservoirs to feed into for proper flood control.  In recent years the city has turned the central location of the bayou into a world-class urban outdoor space and serves as a vital commute route for Houstonians.  In a memo to employees, Steve Taylor commented "Buffalo Bayou Park needs our help clearing debris, sweeping, weeding and removing silt deposits accumulated from the hurricane and excessive flooding."

All local Noventis employees will have the "hands on" opportunity to participate in helping to restore a fundamental part of their city post Hurricane Harvey. At the conclusion of Away Day, Noventis will be presenting a check to the Buffalo Bayou Partnership. To learn more about the organization, or to volunteer go to buffalobayou.org or contact [email protected].
