/R E P E A T -- Media advisory - Working on the Edge: an important campaign launched on Parliament Hill calling for national measures to help correctional officers suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder/


OTTAWA, Sept. 25, 2017 /CNW Telbec/ - On Tuesday, September 26, members of the Union of Canadian Correctional Officers (UCCO-SACC-CSN) will visit Parliament Hill to urge the government to take immediate action to help first responders suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder across Canada, including correctional officers. UCCO-SACC-CSN will also premier a powerful short film entitled "Working on the Edge" to Members of Parliament. The movie depicts the violent day-to-day reality of correctional officers and moving interviews with five correctional officers from across the country. Four of those featured in the film will be available to share their experiences in person.

In addition to the news conference and film screening, UCCO-SACC-CSN will have a trailer depicting life inside correctional facilities stationed at the corner of Metcalfe and Sparks Street in Ottawa for the day. Open to the public, tours of the mock correctional facility will raise awareness about the specific reality of correctional officers.
