New Survey Study Asks Questions about Government-Funded IVF in Ontario

MONTREAL, Sept. 25, 2017 /CNW/ - As announced at the Annual Meeting of the Canadian Fertility and Andrology Society (CFAS), this week marks the official launch of a survey study that will probe the impact of Ontario government-funded IVF on patients taking part in the program to build their families, and on staff working in the Ontario-based fertility sector. The study is open to all fertility clinic staff in Ontario, and IVF patients who have had, are receiving, or are waiting for their OHIP funded cycle. It will be accessible at all Ontario-based clinics, as well as on the websites and social media platforms of fertilitymatters.ca, cfas.ca and OntarioFertility.ca.

"This new funding has changed the landscape of the way fertility services are delivered in the province and we need to understand those changes and how they impact our patients and our staff," said one of the principal investigators, Carl A. Laskin MD, FRCPC.

The survey study link will be active for 8 weeks from launch. The Applied Health and Research Centre (AHRC) at St. Michael's Hospital has been hired to collect and analyze the survey responses.

Results of the study will be submitted through the CFAS for presentation in early 2018.
