Not Guilty Verdict in Terrorism Trial
VANCOUVER, Sept. 22, 2017 /CNW/ - The Supreme Court of British Columbia today found Othman Ayed Hamdan, 35, not guilty of counselling the commission of the offence of murder for the benefit of, at the direction of or in association with a terrorist group, contrary to s. 83.2 of the Criminal Code.
He was also found not guilty of counselling the commission of the offence of assault causing bodily harm, and of counselling the offence of mischief for the benefit of, at the direction of or in association with a terrorist group, both contrary to s. 83.2 and of instructing, directly or indirectly, any person to carry out a terrorist activity contrary to s. 83.22.
He was charged in July 2015 and has been in custody since his arrest.
The PPSC has 30 days to decide whether to appeal the decision.
