Regional Air Transport Summit in Québec - Regional tour stops in Gros-Mécatina
QUÉBEC CITY, Sept. 22, 2017 /CNW Telbec/ - The last regional preparatory meeting for the Regional Air Transport Summit took place today in Gros-Mécatina, bringing together representatives from municipalities and organizations from across Basse-Côte-Nord to present their issues in regional air transport.
Mr. Serge Simard, Member for Dubuc and Parliamentary Assistant to the Premier for the Saguenay?Lac-Saint-Jean region and co-chair of the Summit, was on hand to hear the discussions about the three major regional air transport issues: airfares, service quality and airport infrastructures. Ultimately, these discussions will lead to concrete, viable solutions for the regions.
Anyone interested in regional air transport issues have until October 9 to share their thoughts and offer suggestions on the Summit webpage [French only].
Twelve meetings have been held across the province since last May. The discussions were jointly organized by the ministère des Transports, de la Mobilité durable et de l'Électrification des transports and the Société du Plan Nord.

The Regional Air Transport Summit in Québec will be held on February 2, 2018, at the Centre des congrès in Lévis.
The event will be co-chaired by Serge Simard, Member for Dubuc, Parliamentary Assistant to the Premier for the Saguenay?Lac-Saint-Jean region, and Guy Bourgeois, Member for Abitibi-Est and Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Energy and Natural Resources and Minister Responsible for the Northern Plan.
Proposals gathered during the regional tour and consultations with industry stakeholders will be used to fuel the discussions. The proposed solutions will serve as the basis for instituting practical, viable means for access to quality air transport services at the best prices and improving the airport network.
