Public can sample creations prepared by chefs using local food ingredients

TORONTO, Sept. 20, 2017 /CNW/ - The Royal Agricultural Winter Fair continues its 2017 season with the fourth of the Egg Farmers of Ontario Road to The Royal Farm to Table Events, which feature culinary demonstrations and sampling. The next event is at the Great Northern Exhibition on Sunday September 24th from 1:00pm to 2:30pm on the Agricultural Building Stage of the Great Northern Exhibition Fairgrounds.

"The Egg Farmers of Ontario Road to The Royal events have been a big hit with audiences across Ontario over the past four years," says Charlie Johnstone, Chief Executive Officer at The Royal. "In the past, we have focused on culinary competitions but this year we're all about local food ? and giving our audiences a chance to see how local farm produce is transformed into a delicious meal."

The Great Northern Exhibition event will feature two local chefs: Shaun Edmonstone from Bruce Wine Bar in Thornbury and Marc Bery from Lavender at West. Shaun Edmonstone is Feast On certified, which means that his dining establishment has been recognized for its commitment to sourcing Ontario grown and made food and drink. The chefs will be demonstrating recipes that use local ingredients. The chefs will be joined by local food producers including Brenda Weel from BMW Farms in Stayner, egg producer Anneke Stickney from Elora who will be on hand to answer questions about their work. In addition to the stage demo, the Egg Farmers of Ontario Road to the Royal Farm to Table Demonstration chefs will provide samples of their creations to the audience.
