Costa Colina, a Serene Residential Treatment Facility Designed for Women Suffering With Mental & Emotional Illness, Opens

LAGUNA NIGUEL, Calif., Sept. 19, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Mental and emotional health can dramatically affect a woman's entire life and those around her, and is the primary focus of treatment at Costa Colina, a new mental health facility designed specifically for women suffering from severe depression, anxiety disorders, trauma, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and more. Set on a Laguna Niguel hilltop on the Southern California coast with a breathtaking view of the Pacific Ocean, Costa Colina creates a serene environment with an intense comprehensive, evidence-based program, promoting healing and recovery for women.

"We use a total-self approach for treatment of mental and emotional health, allowing our clients the opportunity to truly heal," said Costa Colina's Medical Director, Dr. Terry V. Eagan, M.D., author of Prayer for Compassion. "One reason our program is so effective is our size; we keep it small and intimate - no more than six clients at a time. This gives us the ability to quickly get to the root of their trauma, anxiety and more. It is a highly effective mental health treatment program for women."

Costa Colina's social rehabilitation treatment program is designed for women diagnosed with mental or emotional health issues, offering real recovery from mental illness through a focused, personalized program with a highly qualified and accredited staff.

Often, in a residential treatment environment, mental illness is treated as the secondary diagnosis in a dual diagnosis program. In contrast, Costa Colina provides a residential option for adult women with a primary treatment focus on PTSD, trauma, depression, anxiety and other mental and behavioral disorders.

"Mental health does affect one's entire life and we provide a nurturing environment, placing emphasis on the specific individual treatment needed so our clients can recover," said Melissa Wright, a Costa Colina program therapist.  "Our goal is to work with each client so she can strengthen her mental and emotional resilience, giving each woman we work with the power to heal and recover from their mental illness and lead a balanced and healthy life."

Costa Colina has a professional and licensed staff that provides an extended residential treatment program utilizing a total body approach. The experienced Costa Colina treatment team includes a psychiatrist, nurse practitioner, RN/LVNs, licensed clinicians, mental health technicians, registered dietitian, fitness and yoga instructors, and other expert health and wellness professionals who are established in their fields. Each client's mental health healing is approached from various angles, from gut health to physical health, group and individual sessions to hands on treatment such as cooking classes, sandtray therapy and other proven effective healing tools. At the completion of treatment, each client receives a continuing care plan to further their healing process.

"When treating mental illness, there is not a singular approach," Dr. Eagan said. "We know, through research and our professional experience, treating mental and emotional conditions requires an approach that addresses the whole person. We work closely with each woman to make sure she has the tools to live the healthy life she envisions for herself."
