Get Your Licks on Route 66® Rolls in to Oklahoma with Three Pet Adoption Events
MARSING, Idaho, Sept. 19, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- FIDO Friendly Magazine announces the 9th Annual Pet Adoption Tour, Get Your Licks on Route 66® with Presenting Sponsor Petco Foundation.
"Each year we travel from Los Angeles to Chicago, stopping at animal shelters along the way to support adoption events and to raise money for the shelters," said Susan Sims, Publisher for FIDO Friendly Magazine. "At each event, attendees line up to donate money to spin and win prizes showcased on our giant spinning wheel which are provided by our generous sponsors like Evercare, Petcurean, Sleepypod Buddy Belts and Tito's Vodka to name just a few. At the end of the day, all proceeds go to the shelter."
In the first eight years, the tour has helped place over 9,000 pets in to new forever homes.
"It's a great way to raise awareness over the plight of shelter pets and to help educate new pet parents about the importance to spay and neuter their pets," says Sims.
At the kick off in Los Angeles, tour Spokesperson and Emmy Award Winning TV Host of the CBS weekly series Lucky Dog, Brandon McMillan, appeared at the East Valley Animal Shelter signing autographs and answering questions for pet parents.
FIDO Friendly Magazine received a grant award from the Petco Foundation of $25,000, which will extend its ability to support the lifesaving efforts across America.
Pet adoption events with FIDO Friendly Magazine and the Petco Foundation will take place in Lawton, OK on Sept. 20 from 1-5 at the Lawton Animal Shelter, Sept. 23 in Edmond from 12-4 at Petco on S. Bryant Ave. and on Sept. 24 in Tulsa from 12-4 at the Woodland Hills Mall.
