Largest Non-Profit Animal Hospital in the U.S. Launches Global Institute for Animal Health Education

NEW YORK, Sept. 19, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Utilizing the knowledge and expertise of 100 specialty veterinarians, the Animal Medical Center (AMC) today launched the Usdan Institute for Animal Health Education to ensure that pet owners everywhere have access to vital pet health resources.

With over 50,000 patient visits a year and more than a century of experience, AMC has unrivaled expertise in the field of veterinary medicine and the credentials to help educate pet owners on all aspects of their pet's health.

To oversee the Institute, AMC has appointed Jaclyn Skidmore, an infectious disease epidemiologist with broad experience in the field of public health, as Director. The Usdan Institute for Animal Health Education's updated website (www.amcny.org/usdaninstitute) is user-friendly for those looking for pet health resources.

"The Usdan Institute for Animal Health Education will focus on three areas of education: animal health, public health as it relates to animals, and the human-animal bond," said Kathryn Coyne, Animal Medical Center's Chief Executive Officer. "We hope pet owners everywhere will utilize the Usdan Institute for Animal Health Education to find resources for their pet's health needs and we invite all New York City area pet owners to join us at our Usdan event series."

"At AMC, our specialty veterinarians are driven by technological and scientific breakthroughs and are always seeking safer and more accurate methods to diagnose illness, and to help advance medical and veterinary knowledge," said Dr. Richard Goldstein, Chief Medical Officer at AMC.

The Usdan Institute for Animal Health Education will present a series of educational events that will be open to the public. On September 28, 2017, Dr. Mark Macina, head of AMC's Dermatology Service, will discuss seasonal pet allergies and advances in treatment.
