Michigan Senate Adopts Michigan Masons Week September 23-29, 2017

ALMA, Mich., Sept. 19, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Michigan Masonic Lodges across the state will begin performing various community outreach activities in their area during the week of September 23. The Michigan Senate will hold a Proclamation Ceremony today at the State Capital starting at 10 a.m.

Lodges across Michigan will be taking part in service and awareness activities that demonstrate the Masons' commitment to its communities. Activities include an open house and car show in Ann Arbor, archery contest in Milford, and numerous dinners and child identification programs to help local youth.

Michigan State Senator Rick Jones (R-Grand Ledge), a Mason himself, applauds the passage of this resolution designating Michigan Masons Week.

"I am pleased to sponsor Senate Resolution 79 for the Michigan Masons," said Senator Jones. "The Masons provide wonderful volunteer services to the people of Michigan. They are very important to any community service."

"Freemasonry has been a pillar supporting communities in Michigan since its time as a provincial territory. We are honored by this recognition and welcome the opportunity to improve humankind and the world we live in," said Masons Grand Master, Joshua Woodwyk.
