Leading Dermatologists Pave The Future During 2017 WDS Media Day

MILWAUKEE, Sept. 19, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- The Women's Dermatologic Society (WDS) presents its bi-annual Media Day on October 12, 2017 at the Gansevoort Meatpacking in New York City. The luncheon brings together the brightest minds in dermatology to explore the advances, techniques and technologies that are rapidly revolutionizing the way we care for our skin and embrace aging with confidence.

The bi-annual Media Day educates press and influencers on the latest innovations, hottest procedures and the most sophisticated techniques in the field. This, in turn, gives consumers a trusted source of information on the most in-demand dermatologic procedures.

"As WDS members, we place particular emphasis on issues affecting women," say Susan C. Taylor, MD, WDS Media Relations Committee Chair. "For example, this year we will discuss the effectiveness of at-home and in-office devices (for rejuvenation, hair growth and hair removal to mention a few) but even more importantly we will cover the safety profile of these devices."

"It is our hope that members of the media will be able to then take this information to women across the nation," continues Dr. Taylor. The featured WDS hot topics include:

Additional discussions include common skin care myths, why it is important to see a dermatologist and at-home or over-the-counter solutions that supplement what is done in the office. For each topic, a veteran physician is teamed up with a young WDS member for a dimensional look at these rising industry trends.

Created over 40 years ago to advance the role of women in the field of dermatology, WDS is the premier organization for personal and professional development of dermatologists dedicated to excellence in patient care, mentorship, volunteerism, and leadership. The organization is now 1,400 plus members strong, and even men have joined the ranks.
