South Asia Democratic Forum: Cross Border of Terrorism in South Asia Discussed at the United Nations

GENEVA, September 13, 2017 /PRNewswire/ --

The Brussels-based South Asia Democratic Forum hosted a conference titled "Implications of State sponsored terrorism from Pakistan", on 13thSeptember 2017 at the United Nations in Geneva. The conference was moderated by Istvan Szent Ivanyi, former Member of the European Parliament, and Foreign Policy Advisor to the Liberal Party of Hungary and the speakers included Jacob Perry, Member of Parliament from Israel, Fulvio Martusciello, Member of the European Parliament and Paulo Casca, Executive Director, South Asia Democratic Forum.

Speaking at the event, Jacob Perry said that the policy of the mercenary army in Pakistan, which believed in using terrorism as a strategic asset, had resulted in the export of terror around the globe.Pakistan, he said, also directly financed and shaped political regimes to better suit its interests, the Syrian regime being one example, where there was interference from both Pakistan and Iran.

In his presentation, Fulvio Martusciello stated that any country that considered Pakistan as an ally in the fight against terror, was being naive. He further said that the European Union had released funds to Pakistan to support its so called war on terror but Pakistan had allegedly misused this international aid. Calling Pakistan  a safe haven for terrorist groups and their leaders, he said that the time had come to expose the activities of all countries that sponsor terror and statedthat the European parliament needed to speak out on all countries sponsoring terrorism.

Paulo Casaca spoke on the issue of Pakistan-sponsored terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir. Stating that Pakistan continued to use terrorism as a strategic weapon, he expressed appreciation for US President Donald Trump's clear message to Pakistan to bring an end to this strategy of promoting terror.

The meeting ended with a call on the international community to evolve a consensus on isolating countries like Pakistan that continued to encourage and promote terror in the region and internationally.
