Ultrasol Curcumin Line & Curcuwin Granted Patent For Sports Performance Benefits

MORRISTOWN, N.J., Sept. 12, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- OmniActive Health Technologies has been granted a US patent (Patent No: US 9724311) for the highly bioavailable, clinically-studied UltraSOL line of curcumin ingredients, including CurcuWIN, for their sports nutrition and performance benefits. The patent covers these proprietary ingredients' compositions for improving muscle performance, endurance capacity and resistance to fatigue when administered in effective amounts in humans undergoing exercise.

This patent opens new opportunities for supplementation to meet current lifestyle needs. While turmeric has a long history as a traditional herb, the last few decades have seen an upsurge in research of pure forms of curcumin (the principal curcuminoid of turmeric) primarily directed towards disease conditions such as cancer and arthritis. However, because done in diseased populations, this research could not be directly translated to the general public nor used to support claims. This patent and its supporting science addresses the evolving needs of a modern, active lifestyle further expanding on curcumin's potential.

Over the last few years, turmeric has become a supplement sensation, climbing the ranks as a top ingredient and now, more than ever, the importance of clinically-demonstrated benefits and enhanced absorption has come center stage. The UltraSOL line of curcumin ingredients was developed to address the issue of absorption and CurcuWIN has been shown to be 46 times more bioavailable than standard curcumin (Jaeger, 2014). But modern lifestyles have generated the need for ingredients that go beyond just high bioavailability to include unique benefits and attributes.

"Our unique platform and composition has not only solved the poor absorption issue of curcumin but, under this patent, is now the only curcumin tested on healthy subjects with demonstrated sports and nutrition benefits to support healthy living," said Abhijit Bhattacharya, President of OmniActive Health Technologies Ltd. "The UltraSOL line of curcumin addresses the needs of a much broader population including those who are living active lifestyles."
