Financial Planning Association to Advance Focus on Serving Needs of Next Generation Financial Planners

DENVER, Sept. 12, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Financial Planning Association® (FPA®), the country's largest membership association for Certified Financial Plannertm (CFP®) professionals and those who support the financial planning process, is building on its focus to provide young financial planners with the resources and opportunities they need to advance in the profession.

For more than a decade, FPA has been proud to be the home for financial planning students, young professionals and career changers who are looking to make financial planning their vocation. The cornerstone of this focus was established with the formation of the FPA NexGen community, which has grown to more than 2,000 members over the past 12 years. The community was created to provide new practitioners with an opportunity to network with peers of all business models who are experiencing similar career journeys.

"As someone who was once part of FPA NexGen, I know how important the community is to connecting new financial planners with their peers," says 2017 FPA President Shannon J. Pike, CFP®. "Many of us in FPA have been personally impacted by FPA NexGen over the years, but with changing times comes an increased need to innovate to serve the needs of these new, dynamic professionals. FPA is committed to doing just that."

FPA is working collaboratively with FPA NexGen leaders to identify key ways in which the association can meet the needs of the next generation of planners, including new CFP® professionals, who are looking to secure their place in the profession. While several initiatives are in early development to provide these members with the tools and resources they require, FPA's partnership with Dallas-based financial planner Hannah Moore, CFP®, to produce, market and co-brand the "You're a Financial Planner, Now What?" podcast will connect the professionals of today with the professionals of tomorrow.

With more than 60 weekly episodes already published, the "You're a Financial Planner, Now What?" podcast provides listeners, especially new financial planners, with valuable insights on everything they need to know to be effective financial planners and business owners. Each episode, which average 45-minutes, features engaging content and interviews with thought leaders and peers who share their experiences, knowledge, and invaluable practical advice.

"I know firsthand that being involved in FPA as a new planner had a very positive impact on my career. That's why I'm so thrilled that the 'You're a Financial Planner, Now What?' podcast is partnering with FPA," says Hannah Moore, CFP®. "This podcast started as a passion project because I saw a gap in the financial planning community with new planners needing guidance and support. This partnership will help both the podcast and FPA further the message that, as a new planner, your career matters. We want to give you the tools you need to be exceptional planners and to make an impact on your clients and this profession."

FPA will work with FPA NexGen leaders and Ms. Moore to further develop the podcast and integrate the content throughout the association to support young financial planners and their desire to master both the practice and business of financial planning. This is just the beginning of an expanded next generation effort that will be the focus on FPA in the coming year. The association will look to build on the great work of the FPA NexGen community, which has accomplished so much through their Annual Gathering, online community and local NexGen chapters.

"Through our partnership with Hannah and FPA NexGen leaders, we will expand our outreach to a larger group of soon to be and new financial planners who will be better able to integrate with the vast amount of content and mentors available through the FPA eco-system," says FPA CEO/Executive Director Lauren M. Schadle, CAE. "The entire FPA team will work together to ensure that all of our communities are focused on the critical need to support the careers of the next generation of financial planners."

The podcast will be featured on OneFPA.org, but can also be accessed at www.FinancialPlannerPodcast.com, through iTunes, Stitcher and other podcast players.

"We're excited for the opportunity to formally partner with Hannah as she is deeply integrated with the FPA NexGen community. We believe her podcast will bring valuable content to our members and will inspire the next generation with insights from colleagues within our profession," added FPA NexGen President Rachel Moran, CFP®.
