LCPA Raises Concerns Over the Global Security & Stability Conference Amid the Ongoing Qatar Crisis

LONDON, September 11, 2017 /PRNewswire/ --

London Centre For Public Affairs (LCPA) has urged members of the UK parliament as well as members of the house of lords to work towards developing relations with Qatar, adding that the UK government must play a leading role in ending any restrictions imposed on the country.

LCPA reached out to many MPs, Lords and Baronesses and raised concerns about an upcoming event titled, "The Qatar, Global Security & Stability Conference," which claims to, "seek a resolution to the regional crisis and a more stable future for Qatar."

LCPA suggested in earlier statements that the Conference will not contribute in bringing about reconciliation between the Gulf states.

LCPA is observing this conference which comes amid the political dispute between several GCC countries with Qatar.

According to Amnesty , the dispute has resulted in "Families ripped apart, freedom of expression suppression." Amnesty International has also stated,"Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) are toying with the lives of thousands of Gulf residents as part of their dispute with Qatar, splitting up families and destroying peoples' livelihoods and education.".

Amnesty also argued, "These drastic measures are already having a brutal effect, splitting children from parents and husbands from wives. People from across the region - not only from Qatar, but also from the states implementing these measures - risk losing jobs and having their education disrupted. All the states involved in this dispute must ensure their actions do not lead to human rights violations."

Another senior International Organistion, Human Rights Watch (HRW) has also adopted a similar position. HRW report suggests that the dispute resulted in, "Families Separated; Workers Stranded; Education, Medical Care Interrupted"

United Nation Human Rights Council in Geneva will feature few events tackling the dispute with Qatar and how it violated International law.
