Intoxalock Applauds Oregon Lawmakers for Passing HB 2638, Enforcing Use of Ignition Interlock Devices by Drunk Driving Offenders

DES MOINES, Iowa, Sept. 7, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Recently, Oregon Governor Kate Brown signed into law HB 2638, giving Oregon State Police oversight authority over ignition interlock providers. Under the law, local authorities will be responsible for certifying as well as inspecting interlock installation centers and will receive additional funding for state troopers whose core responsibility will be to ensure interlock compliance among drunk driving offenders.

Since 2010, across the nation, interlock devices have prevented more than 1.77 million attempts to start a vehicle by somebody with a blood alcohol concentration of .08 and above.
