Québec City families will enjoy improved community spaces for a better quality of life
Government of Canada awards nearly $60,000 to support the Centre d'amitié autochtone de Québec improvement project

Québec City and the families who live there will enjoy improved infrastructure to celebrate Huron-Wendat Nation culture thanks to $59,104 in financial assistance awarded by the Government of Canada.
The funding was announced today by the Honourable Bardish Chagger, Leader of the Government in the House of Commons and Minister of Small Business and Tourism, acting on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for CED. It will help the Centre d'amitié autochtone de Québec (website in French only) renovate its interior and exterior infrastructure, notably by replacing the windows and cladding.
Places for meeting and exchange such as the Centre d'amitié play a vital role because they enhance citizens' quality of life and vitalize our communities. In 2015?2016, through its various services, the Centre d'amitié autochtone de Québec reached over 1,000 Aboriginals who were passing through or living in Quebec City.
The funding was awarded through the Canada 150 Community Infrastructure Program (CIP150), a $300 million fund that was established to celebrate Canada's 150th anniversary through investments in community spaces that bring Canadians together.

- In addition to the funding announced today, the Huron-Wendat Nation received a total of $375,000 through the CIP150 to renovate its Carrefour artistique. That project involves installing a permanent roof over the amphitheatre and stands, modernizing the outdoor stage, adding dressing rooms and building an illuminated path between the Carrefour artistique and the Place de la Nation.
- Founded in 1979, the Centre d'amitié autochtone de Québec is a non-profit organization that provides a wide range of culturally appropriate services for Aboriginals from all nations living either permanently or on a temporary basis in the Quebec City region.
- Since its creation in 2015, CIP150 has invested nearly $61M in more than 470 projects contributing to the vitality of Quebec's communities.
