Quotes

"Arts and culture are at the heart of our communities. Our government is proud to support organizations like the Cobequid Arts Council, which provides Truro residents and visitors with great performances and high quality arts experiences throughout the year. By investing in our cultural institutions, we continue to create jobs, grow the economy and build stronger communities."

?The Honourable Mélanie Joly, Minister of Canadian Heritage

"The Marigold Cultural Centre is an important venue for performing and visual arts. You know when there's a show on at the Marigold, because there are more people around town having a meal or a drink, shopping and strolling the streets. And many young people come here to learn and develop as artists. It is great to see Canadian Heritage supporting the Marigold and vibrant cultural life in Colchester County!"

?Bill Casey, Member of Parliament (Cumberland?Colchester)

"We are pleased that the Canada Arts Presentation Fund has supported the Cobequid Arts Council/Marigold Cultural Centre in bringing a wide variety of arts experiences to the people of our community. This allocation of funds for 2017?2018 will help us keep bringing great Canadian artists to perform here in Truro. Canadian Heritage has also contributed to the Cobequid Arts Council renovation project that will update the Marigold Cultural Centre's theatre lighting. This is an invaluable gift for Nova Scotia's entire artistic community, as well as for the people who use and attend the Centre each year and participate in the events held here. The two contributions will enable community members to discover the richness of all genres of music, musical theatre and drama that enrich our community."

?Vern Hearn, Chair Cobequid Arts Council
