SAO PAULO, Aug. 21, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Companhia de Saneamento Básico do Estado de São Paulo ? Sabesp ("Company" or "Sabesp"), pursuant to article 157, paragraph 4 of Law 6,404/76 and CVM Instruction 358/02, hereby informs its shareholders and the market in general, regarding the news published by newspapers and online services, among which: O Estado de São Paulo - Estadão, Diário do Grande ABC/Santo André e RD Repórter  Diários Online/Santo André referring to  the negotiations with the municipality of Santo André, the Company clarifies:

• Pursuant to the Notice to the Market dated May 11, 2017, the Company signed a Protocol of Intentions with the municipality of Santo André for the preparation of studies and evaluations aiming to resolve commercial relations and existing debts between the municipality and the Company;
  
  
• The studies, evaluations and discussions are progressing, however, no agreement or contract has been signed binding the parties to any of the subjects under discussion, including those in the media reports; and
  
  
• The Company will keep the market informed of any developments related to the subject of this Material Fact.
