TORONTO, Aug. 21, 2017 /CNW/ - Despite stormy weather that postponed the kick-off of PortsToronto's seventh annual Sail-in Cinema, more than 11,500 movie fans came to Sugar Beach ? by land and boat ? for the three-day event. From August 18 to August 20, audiences enjoyed Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark, Beauty and the Beast (2017) and Edward Scissorhands on a four-storey, two-sided, floating screen anchored to a barge in Lake Ontario.

"PortsToronto's Sail-In Cinema first began as a celebration of Toronto's vibrant waterfront, where both boaters and beachgoers could come together to enjoy their favourite films on the water," said Deborah Wilson, Vice President, Communications and Public Affairs, PortsToronto. "We are thrilled to watch as this summer tradition continues to grow each year with more and more families, friends and community members coming down to the water's edge for a night of festivities, water displays by the Toronto Fire Boat, music, free treats ? and, of course, film."

PortsToronto was pleased to have Toyota Canada back as Sail-In Cinema's Pre-Show Partner, offering film-goers many fun activities, including henna tattoos, face-painting and more. PortsToronto was also delighted to have both new and returning partners this year including: Billy Bishop Airport, Toyota, Redpath Sugar, CTV, the Toronto Star, FreshAirCinema, Porter Airlines, North American Logistics Services and the Waterfront BIA.

About Sail-in Cinematm (http://www.sailincinema.com)
Sail-In Cinematm, presented by PortsToronto, is the world's first two-sided floating movie experience of its kind. The free film festival transforms Toronto's Sugar Beach into an outdoor movie theatre over three nights. Movies are chosen by public vote and shown under the open skies on a four-storey, two-sided screen set atop a barge in Toronto Harbour, allowing moviegoers to enjoy the films by land or by boat. The inaugural Sail-In Cinematm was held in 2011 to mark PortsToronto's centennial year. The annual event attracts more than 10,000 people on land and 100 boats over the three-day period and is now a permanent fixture on Toronto's summer calendar.
