Quotes

"Once completed, this project will offer the community and visitors a safe cycling network and encourage activities such as running, walking and biking. It will also increase tourism amenities in the region, already renowned for its Véloroute des bleuets, and thereby contribute to economic development. It's because of our work to develop our economy and manage public funds responsibly that we have the necessary flexibility to make new investments like the one announced today. This project also echoes the work the Regional Economic Summit and the Tourism Working Group have done to underscore the importance of maintaining and improving recreational and tourist infrastructure like the regional cycling network."

Philippe Couillard, Premier of Quebec, responsible for the Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean Region and Member of the National Assembly for Roberval

"Recreational infrastructure helps keep our communities healthy and improve people's quality of life. Our government is proud to be investing in projects like the construction of a new bike path in La Doré, which will encourage active transportation among residents while promoting the development of tourism, economic growth and the creation of well-paid middle-class jobs."

Minister of Families, Children and Social Development and Member of Parliament for Québec, the Honourable Jean?Yves Duclos, on behalf of the Minister of Infrastructure and Communities, the Honourable Amarjeet Sohi

"This support from both levels of government will lay the foundation for our development projects, which aim to showcase other aspects of the boreal forest. The municipality's resort and recreational development strategies will tap into the tremendous unexplored potential of our proximity to outdoor recreation sites. The Municipality of La Doré, the surrounding areas and the entire region urgently need this support, given the situation that has prevailed in our single?industry communities for more than 10 years."

Mayor of La Doré, Jacques Asselin
