SAN FRANCISCO and VICTORIA, British Columbia, Aug. 3, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Tutela, the crowdsourced mobile data company, has announced a partnership with MapD Technologies, the leader in GPU-powered data analytics. The deal creates a mobile data analytics solution, Tutela Explorer, that provides real-time, interactive and highly visual insight into the performance of mobile networks and device usage.

Telecom providers, mobile device manufacturers and industry analysts can access Tutela's massive crowdsourced dataset using MapD's GPU-powered analytics platform to quickly gain insight into mobile network quality from the country level all the way down to the street level.

These queries, which draw on data crowdsourced from over 200 million devices, are processed in milliseconds. This allows mobile companies to identify trends and patterns, as well as problems and opportunities from massive, live datasets in a highly accessible format. Previously, these types of visual analytics would take hours to process and render, meaning businesses could not respond to issues promptly.

Tom Luke, Vice President, Tutela said: "No one had ever built a crowdsourced dataset about mobile network coverage and quality as large or as comprehensive before now. Only MapD had a platform powerful enough to make the hundreds of billions of data points that we collect this useful and valuable to our customers."

"Organizations can interactively explore Tutela's huge mobile dataset in real-time to ask any question from the data," Tom continued. "The speed at which MapD's platform renders these visualizations transforms decision making because companies can spot and analyze network issues and opportunities without delay. Also importantly, the ease of use and visual appeal of the platform makes it a powerful tool which can be used by anyone, without any specialist skills or expertise."

"Tutela's uniquely comprehensive solution records over 10 billion measurements every day, which the telecom industry needs to visualize in real-time to derive the most value," said Todd Mostak, CEO of MapD. "Our strategic partnership brings that huge dataset to life, enabling mobile providers to identify problems with specific cell towers, analyze usage trends and optimize infrastructure equipment. It delivers deep insights providers can use to directly improve their service for their customers."
