USRBC Statement on Signing of H.R. 3364, Countering America's Adversaries Through Sanctions Act

WASHINGTON, Aug. 2, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Dan Russell, President and CEO of the U.S.-Russia Business Council, issued the following statement today upon President Trump's signing of H.R. 3364, Countering America's Adversaries Through Sanctions Act:

"Today, the Countering America's Adversaries Through Sanctions Act was signed into law by the President. Since the legislation's introduction, the U.S.-Russia Business Council has expressed reservations to the Congress and the Administration about the impact of certain Russia-related provisions of this bill on the U.S. business community.  The Council recognizes that the Administration and the Congress took steps to address those concerns, particularly with regard to unintended consequences for business and to continued coordination with European allies and partners. The President's signing statements today rightly flag the need to avoid negative effects on American companies and those of America's allies and friends. The Council will work with the Trump Administration to ensure that the implementation of this law does not adversely impact America's competitiveness abroad nor place U.S. workers and firms at a competitive disadvantage. The U.S.-Russia Business Council concurs with the hope expressed in the signing statements that there will be 'cooperation between the United States and Russia on major global issues so that these sanctions will no longer be necessary.'"
