Government of Canada supports emerging green technologies through Build in Canada Innovation Program

Quebec firm offers environmentally responsible solution to energy production

SAINT-ANACLET, QC, July 27, 2017 /CNW/ - The Government of Canada is committed to growing the economy, strengthening the middle class and helping those working hard to join it. Through the Build in Canada Innovation Program, the Government of Canada is investing in Canadian innovations to create inclusive and sustainable economic growth for communities across Canada.

On behalf of the Honourable Jim Carr, Acting Minister of Public Services and Procurement, Rémi Massé, Member of Parliament for Avignon?La Mitis?Matane?Matapédia, today announced that the Government of Canada is investing in a made-in-Canada innovation that uses solar panels and small wind turbines to generate renewable energy.

Audace Technologies Inc. has received a $692,127 contract for its innovation called the GreenCube. This compact and transportable power station can generate clean and renewable energy for Canadians who live and work in remote communities and regions. It is a cost-effective and environmentally responsible solution that also provides reliable protection against power outages.

The innovation is being tested by Parks Canada in Nunavut and by National Defence at the Canadian Forces Base in Gagetown, New Brunswick.

This investment was made through the Build in Canada Innovation Program, which helps Canadian innovators land their first sale and get their innovations tested by the Government of Canada. This program is just one of the many ways the Government of Canada supports innovation and small and medium-sized businesses across Canada.
