UPDATE: Richard Colbourne, AACI, P. App Elected as New President to the Appraisal Institute of Canada at 2017 International Valuation Conference


OTTAWA, June 12, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The Appraisal Institute of Canada (AIC) announces the election of Richard Colbourne, AACI, P.App of Halifax, Nova Scotia as AIC's National President for 2017-2018. Mr. Colbourne was formally inducted during the 2017 International Valuation Conference held from June 8 - 11, 2017 in Ottawa, Ontario.

Mr. Colbourne is currently the Senior Director Valuation, Property Tax and Training with Young and Associates Real Estate Appraisals and Consultants Ltd. with offices in Bridgewater and Truro, Nova Scotia. Rick received his AACI in 1994 and has specialized in property tax assessment, valuation and consulting. He has held leadership positions in property assessment and taxation with a municipality and two provincial governments. He had a long career with the Government of Canada including experience as a Senior Real Estate Advisor, Regional Chief Appraiser and most recently Regional Manager of the Payment in Lieu of Tax Program for Atlantic Canada. His career has given him the opportunity to work in most provinces across Canada. He has a broad knowledge of the valuation of all types of residential, multi-residential, commercial, industrial and special purpose properties. He is a Past-President of the Nova Scotia Real Estate Appraisers Association and currently sits on that Board as the AIC Director for Nova Scotia. Rick has been on the AIC National Board since 2013 and has chaired the Audit and Finance Committee, the Marketing and Communications Committee and the Professional Practice Committee. Rick is a life-long learner and in addition to his real estate appraisal interests he completed a Masters of Arts Degree in Leadership and Training in 2007 through Royal Roads University specializing in Change Management, a certification in Emotional Intelligence (EQi), 2008 and a Certificate in Change Management (Prosci) 2012.
