The Government of Canada has awarded a contract to allow the public to rent multi-purpose space in the Voltigeurs de Québec Armoury

MONTRÉAL, May 23, 2017 /CNW/ - The Government of Canada values its heritage buildings and is investing to ensure that they are preserved for future generations.

Following a competitive tender, the Honourable Jean-Yves Duclos, Minister of Families, Children and Social Development and Member of Parliament for Québec, announced today, on behalf of Public Services and Procurement Canada, the awarding of a contract to Le George V service de banquets et traiteur (catering company) to manage the multi-purpose spaces at the Voltigeurs de Québec Armoury.

Le George V service de banquets et traiteur will be mandated to manage the multi-purpose room, the foyer and the commemorative hall. It will provide management, promotion and optimization services for the multi?purpose spaces, including supervising events and selecting teams of personnel and caterers. The business tasked with managing the multi?purpose space will pay the government a portion of its profits.

The entire space of the central Armoury building, which was the drill hall before the fire, will become a large multi-purpose room that will be able to be used for holding community, cultural and social events. The room, which is approximately 2,000 m², will be able to simultaneously accommodate 1,300 people or be divided into two sections as needed and will include a moveable stage. This room's design will make use of the latest technology and emphasis will be placed on the quality of the acoustics, since it will be used for staging events.

The commemorative hall will be used as a lobby for the public and as facilities commemorating the military history of the Armoury and the Voltigeurs. The Armoury will also have a foyer adjacent to the main hall, in the back of the building, with a view of the Plains of Abraham.
