CHARLOTTE, N.C., May 23, 2017 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- With growing social media support, the Quinn and the Quips TV series and game is driving toward the crowdfunding finish line having achieved 77% of the $50,000 goal two weeks before the campaign ends on June 6.
Quinn & the Quips is an original concept by Alex Anderson, a producer at Blue Socks Media. The show stars spunky 11-year-old Quinn, a techie gamer, and her friends who are recruited by an eccentric teacher to learn code while competing in a virtual reality game complicated by an arsenal of emoji-like shape-shifting quips.
Originally targeted to ages 6-9, the show has now "aged up" to 9-11 year olds, and continues to evolve as industry advisors, networks and crowdfunding backers add input into the creative process. The series can be produced as either an animated series, or partially live action with animated virtual reality segments.
"Involving a Kickstarter community is one of our key early stage strategies," Toni Steedman, Blue Socks Media Founder and CEO, explained. "We're very interested in feedback as we finalize character development, scripts and gaming goals."
Blue Socks Media's team created the original treatment and pilot script, award-winning character illustrator Warner McGee designed the first stage, contemporary look of the characters, and Los Angeles gamer/screenwriter Jeremy Fox created the foundation for the game. However, this is just the start of assembling a team of directors, producers, writers, animators, sound engineers and a host of other experts who will bring Quinn and her friends to life.
One thing that won't change as the series moves forward is the commitment to get girls excited about technology and the role the series will play in modeling positive social behavior for a new digital generation.
"My wife saw a Facebook post about Quinn and we were immediately impressed with how clever and relevant the concept was," David Funk, a serial entrepreneur and investor from Charlottesville, VA, commented. "We backed the Kickstarter campaign and are excited to follow the series' progress."
Based on the level of commitment, Kickstarter backers like the Funks will receive updates about the series and game's progress, links and/or downloads of the finished pilot and game and different promotional rewards such as customized "quip" stress balls, USB bracelets, t-shirts, tote bags and experiences. While campaigns vary, the average Kickstarter backer contributes between $25-75.00. No equity or ownership is granted for backers' contributions.
